The art of going slow

Going slow

Like many things in life

it is advised to strive

not for complexity and haste,

rather for simplicity and good taste.

A poem is best read slow

to feel the words whole

and to better aid us

to love the poem’s cadence.

Food for body, like food for thought,

as I have been taught,

digests better when taken slow

in small bites, as we all know.

And let it be said

that together in bed

we want to take it slow,

and get carried by the flow.

There’s a time for ecstasy

and a time, that’s right for me,

being in the timeless glow

of really going slow.
